Some words about MBE preparation....
The essential is to practice these questions, each and every day. Note when you are guessing and when you think you know the right answer. When you study the explanatory answers, be sure to determine what types of mistakes you are making and then go over your strategies. (Did you miss because you don't know the law, because you read the question wrong, because you read the answer wrong, did you run out of time??)
You will of course do better on MBEs the more precise your knowledge of the law. That is a given. The MBE tests legal knowledge. But also, it is quite likely that there are technique issues that you can and must correct asap ---and continue working to improve upon, each and every day through July 26th. Be sure to bar out wrong answer choices the moment you spot them, and you can self diagnose why you chose correctly sometimes with answer-ranking strategies).
Most people can also greatly improve their MBE scores by working on doing a much more careful and detailed reading and analysis of the fact patterns and answer choices. There are numerous tips on how to improve MBE reading skills. We will discuss these throughout the summer, and I hope you will try them out as you continue doing practice tests.
Try for now, this one. Read and analyze an MBE question as if it were an essay and then look at the answer choices. Sometimes looking first at the choices can throw you and distract you, sway you from what otherwise would have been a sound analysis and reasoning through to a correct answer. There are answer choices meant to trick you, and they will look seductive. As I said, we’ll share more and more MBE tips in the coming weeks.
Most important, do your daily practice questions ---at the very least, no matter how busy you are, fit in 17 (in one half hour) each day through July ---starting today!
