Next week is the big week, for many of you. Keep your cool. The watchwords of the week should be "calm" and "confident."
Remember you have been studying all summer. You have been learning law, and taking law exams for three or four years solid now. You are ready. You have what it takes. So, go in and show them your stuff!
You are on an interview, when you take the exam. So, put your best face forward. Write in a clear, organized fashion. Show your logic. Use every fact. Tell the examiners why facts are or are not relevant when you write. Analysis is about WHY --it's not just the bottom line.
Read critically. Read carefully. You're soon to be a lawyer. Think of yourself as a lawyer. Good lawyers are picky, critical, precise, careful; no comma goes unnoticed. Read the question, then re-read the question, then outline, then think, then answer. Think as you write. Don't stop thinking until the last "time" is called.
Follow the proctor's rules. Be nice to the proctors. Get the lay of the land of the room. Find out where the water fountains and restrooms are in case you need them.
Dress in layers. It's amazing how frequently I hear people say that the Tuesday of exam was hot in the room and the Wednesday freezing, or vice versa. They regulate the room temperature, and it may not be to your liking. So, if you want to be comfortable, dress in layers.
