You are getting ready to PASS the February Bar Exam, but are you getting very nervous? It's OK if you are. Hang in there. For some people, just seeing the calendar move from January to February, realizing your exam is weeks away now, not months, does that --it makes you even more nervous than you were when you first turned to this endeavor.
But, February is nearly upon us, so do not let that derail or even phase you in the slightest. You just keep on doing what you have been, following your bar review program, sticking diligently to your study schedule, and doing your very best, each and every day. Hopefully you are in full swing with both substantive learning and skills training --regularly practicing MBEs, Essays, and PTs under timed conditions, and studying sample answers to master ways to improve your performance. Keep at that!
Think back to just how much you learned in law school in the days before certain final exams, just days! You've still got several weeks!! That is a long time. Remember, you are well into your study routine. You have been working at this for a long time. You have been preparing. That means that by now you are "primed" and ready! The learning you do this month can be geometrically more effective than in previous months because you are like a sponge (in a good way!) --ready to absorb all the details you need to pass the bar exam.
And, if you are nervous, make that stress your ally. Use the nerves as power tools. Let positive stress keep you awake, alert, and motivated to put in extra hours, extra concentration. Keep the stress powerful; do not let it for one moment become paralyzing.
Much more on how to avoid stress paralysis in past blog posts; if you'd like further tips and thoughts, please check out archived posts. And, as we welcome this month of February together, those of you preparing to PASS the bar exam this February, remember this is your month.
So, as you turn your calendar from January to February, say, with confidence, "Bring it on!!! I will pass the bar exam, and this is my month!"
